Conor Garland remains the biggest success story from the Arizona Coyotes pipeline since the franchise relocated it’s AHL operations from Springfield to Tucson.
Garland spent parts of three seasons in Tucson becoming a fan favorite before he was called up to the NHL in December of 2018. He never gave up his grasp on that roster spot, establishing himself as the most electrifying player on the Arizona Coyotes roster until he was traded to the Vancouver Canucks as part of the deal to dump Oliver Ekman-Larsson’s contract.
The shifty winger did return to the Roadrunners for a short stint at the end of the 2018-2019 season, however. With the NHL season concluded and the Meeps attempting to sneak into a playoff spot, Garland rejoined the team for three games at the tail end of the season.
Given the amount of wear on this sweater, it is presumed that Garland wore this gamer in his brief return to Tucson.
The Roadrunners wore their Red Set jerseys on both April 12th and April 13th against San Diego and Garland played in both contests. His sweater in those photos is devoid of wear and some of the loose threads on the right sleeve #8 do seem to line up.
On the front of Garland’s sweater there is a good amount of pulls and pilling below the head of the crest and above the ROADRUNNERS wordmark. There is also a pick in the right sleeve near the #8.
Pilling is a pretty common feature of many of G’s game worn jerseys.
The most intriguing aspect of this jersey is the sponsorship patch on the right breast.
These O’Rielly Chevrolet sponsorship patches were not worn until the 2019-2020 season. My presumption is that it was applied ahead of the 2019-2020 season but Garland never returned to Tucson. He quickly became the most important forward on the Coyotes roster and never looked back.
