This jersey appears to have been worn by Derek Maire while playing for the Arizona State Sun Devils ACHA D2 hockey team during the 2007-2008 season.
Rosters and records for ACHA hockey for a lot of schools from the early to mid 2000’s are hard to come by, so I’ve been unable to confirm that Derek Maire was indeed the player who wore this sweater. What I have been able to dig up, however, is photos of this jersey in action against Long Beach State University early in the 2007-2008 season and they are labeled with the name Derek Maire.
Regardless of who wore it in 2007-2008, it is clear from the photos that the jersey had been worn the previous season because there are already matches to marks and unrepaired holes. I presume it also may have been worn beyond the 2007-2008 season, as well, because the alternate captain’s “A” has been added at some point and is not present in those early season photos.
These jerseys featured an old school Arizona State wordmark logo surrounding Sparky that wouldn’t have been out of place in the 90’s.
The jersey is well worn with unrepaired holes, board burns, stick marks, and a good bit of filth from the ice.
This set did not have nameplates but everything else (crest, shoulder patches, and numbers) is sewn onto the jersey.
