Ivan Prosvetov has been tapped as the potential goalie of the future for the Arizona Coyotes.
Drafted in the 4th round of the 2018 NHL Draft, Prosvetov had a solid junior season in Saginaw and followed that up with a blistering start to his professional career in Tucson in 2019-2020. His form tailed off toward the end, but the start certainly raised some eyebrows (and expectations) in the fanbase.
The 2020-2021 season was a different story for #50, however.
Due to the unique circumstances caused by the pandemic surrounding both the AHL and NHL seasons, Prosvetov found no consistent home in 2020-2021. He split time between starting with the Tucson Roadrunners, as well as sitting on the taxi squad with the Arizona Coyotes.
Late in the season he earned his first NHL minutes in relief of Adin Hill on March 31st, 2021. He received his first NHL start on April 12th.
The topsy-turvy nature of Prosvetov’s season hurt his numbers in Tucson. His save percentage dropped to .895 in 18 appearances, and it had an even deeper impact on the Meeps.
With no consistent goaltending presence in Tucson, the team struggled mightily.
Now that the upcoming 2021-2022 season appears to be a return to some form of normalcy, it will be interesting to see Prosvetov’s progression in his third season as a pro.
If he can find his consistency (and the Tucson roster is and coaching staff regains it’s stability), it could be a bright season in Old Pueblo.
The Tucson Roadrunners were scheduled to wear their red set jerseys in 10 games in 2020-2021, but due to issues with COVID they only wore them in eight of those.
Prosvetov’s red set gamer has relatively light wear since it was worn in just three of those eight games.
There is a very nice dark puck mark to the left of the crest that has been matched to all three games. The right sleeve band also has another very large dark puck mark that has produced some photomatches.
The inside of the left sleeve has a faint puck mark. The front hem has puck marks on both the left and right sides of the bottom of the sweater.
One intriguing aspect of Prosvetov’s game worn jersey is the back numbers. It’s the first Roadrunners gamer I’ve seen where the numbers overlap the copper/white/black band that circles the waist.
There is no set tag in this jersey as it was purchased directly from the team via DASH auction.
