Jacob Semik and the Arizona State Sun Devils spent the entirety of the 2020-2021 season on the road in the Big Ten thanks to the pandemic.
It was a trial by fire for the program on the ice but considered well worth it by the players and coaching staff in order to make sure the season happened. "It's been an experience of a lifetime for our players and staff," head coach Greg Powers told ESPN.
The competition they faced on the road was no joke. ASU faced five ranked opponents and some of those opponents multiple times, including Minnesota when they were ranked at No. 1 and No. 4 and Michigan at No. 8. The results were lackluster, with the team finishing the season 7-16-3.
It was a growing year for the program and for defenseman Jacob Semik.
Semik played in 25 of the 26 games and tallied 1 goal and 10 assists for a career high 11 points.
The Sun Devils introduced their 1975 throwback jerseys in December of 2020 to widespread acclaim.
Created as a nod to the 1975 undefeated ASU football team, these jerseys featured a gorgeous sunburst logo and perforated numbering to look like the 1975 football jerseys. They are without a doubt the best looking jersey Arizona State has ever worn.
The set was worn in four games. Those games were December 4th against Notre Dame and December 18th, 2020 against Ohio State. After the new year they were worn in two more games on February 14th and February 15th, 2021 against Michigan State.
Jacob Semik wore this “sunburst” 1975 Throwback jersey in all four games the set was utilized in 2020-2021.
He scored 1 goal and 2 assists in this sweater and that goal was his lone goal of the season. That goal happened to be assisted by Johnny Walker who tied Brinson Pasichnuk for the most points in school history at 107 with that assist.
Semik’s jersey has mild wear with several good-sized board burns in each sleeve.
There is also a very large and dark stick mark to the right of the sunburst crest.
The rest of the jersey is clean with a few loose threads and picks. These jerseys did not have set tags.
