Jacob Wilson served as captain for the Arizona State Sun Devils hockey program in 2020-2021.
The defenseman was also an alternate captain in 2019-2020and wore this sweater in both of those seasons, as well as in 2018-2019.
Wilson is the Sun Devils’ all-time leader in games played with 150 across his five years in Tempe. He also ranks third all-time in penalty minutes with 184.
While he was never a huge offensive threat, the Missouri native was an important part of the Arizona State defensive corps that gave up the three fewest amounts of goals scored in school history from 2018-2021.
Arizona State introduced their new maroon jerseys with gray and gold accents prior to the 2018-2019 season. The maroon sweaters were set to be worn primarily on the road, but did see some time at home, as well.
These new “second generation” jerseys shifted ASU’s road colors from black to maroon and added gray to the color palette. Additionally, the school adopted perforated numbers which really made the jerseys pop up close.
The Sun Devils wore their maroon jerseys in 16 games in the 2018-2019 season. They wore them again in 2019-2020 for 7 games. ASU wore the jerseys once more for a final season before a jersey refresh in 2020-2021 for 5 more games.
With very few exceptions, the Sun Devils issue just one jersey to a player for his entire tenure in the program.
Jacob Wilson wore this maroon jersey throughout the three years these maroon sets were in the rotation. He wore it in 15 games in 2018-2019, 6 games in 2019-2020, and 5 games in 2020-2021. Wilson scored zero goals and 9 assists in the sweater over those three seasons.
Jacob Wilson’s maroon set gamer has relatively light wear but there is some to be found.
Both sleeves feature clusters of board burns and there is a pick/pull, as well.
The front of the sweater is mostly clean with the exception of a loose thread on the captain’s “C” and a board burn/slash just above it. There is also a decent board burn on the seam of the right shoulder. There is an unrepaired cut/burn on the yellow band around the waist that has led to the only photomatch thus far.
Wilson’s jersey is clean on the back with the exception of a slash on the lower right hand side in the hip area that ends in a small unrepaired hole.
