Minnesota Whitecaps center Katie McGovern wore this awesome You Can Play night jersey on January 19th, 2019 when the Whitecaps took on the Connecticut Whale.
McGovern spent just one season with the Whitecaps but she made it count.
The team fought their way to the Isobel Cup Final against the Buffalo Beauts and won 2-1 in overtime.
Katie McGovern just happened to have the primary assist on the game-winning goal. She won the draw clean on an offensive zone faceoff and sent it to the stick of Lee Stecklein, who fired a shot that redirected off the shaft of a Beauts stick and into the net.
Her game worn You Can Play Night jersey has minimal wear as expected.
What it does have, however, is quite a bit of character.
The jersey is fully sublimated, and the team added rainbow accents to the crest as well as the sleeves which really pop and give the jersey a vibrant contrast with their traditional black and blue color scheme.
They also feature Dunkin’ and Tria sponsorship on the front, as well as MeiGrayGroup sponsorship on the back. The back adds the rainbow accents to the numbers which really makes a difference in what was honestly a pretty bland Whitecaps design in it’s generic form.
These jerseys are MeiGray tagged, just like their NHL counterparts.
After starring at UMD for four seasons and and helping lead the Whitecaps to the Isobel Cup in 2018-2019, Katie McGovern left the Whitecaps and the NWHL and was part of the PWHPA in the 2019-2020 season.
