Kevin Swider is the greatest player to ever step on the ice in the SPHL.
He was the fulcrum of the Knoxville Ice Bears for parts of nine seasons and retired as the Southern Professional Hockey League’s second leading goal-scorer, first in assists, first in points, and three-time SPHL Most Valuable Player.
Swider spent five seasons as the captain of the Ice Bears and had his #12 retired by the club in 2014. He was inducted into the Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame in 2017.
Kevin Swider wore this teal game worn jersey during the 2006-2007 season as the club was coming off of it’s first SPHL President’s Cup championship in 2005-2006.
These Knoxville Cherokee throwbacks were worn on November 10th, 2006 and potentially in a second date as well based on the wear on this jersey.
They were primarily teal with black and white striping and accents along with the white stars that encircle the bottom hem. The familiar Knoxville Ice Bears crest was even palette swapped to match the retro theme.
The jerseys featured the 2005-2006 President’s Cup Champions patch on the right breast and a Knoxville Cherokees patch on the left shoulder.
The captain’s jersey features a solid amount of wear with stick and puck marks in the sleeves and body, as well as board burns in both sleeves. There are a few stains throughout as well that may be from a previous owner.
Swider was named the team’s captain beginning in 2006-2007 and this jersey has the captain’s “C” on the left breast.
