Matias Maccelli has had an immediate impact in the AHL for the Tucson Roadrunners.
The Finnish winger has scored 52 points (13 goals, 39 assists) in just 40 games and currently holds a 21 point lead over his nearest counterpart in Michael Carcone.
He’s led the Roadrunners attack and even earned a call-up to the Arizona Coyotes in late December, but was forced to postpone his NHL debut because he tested positive for COVID prior to his first game.
Maccelli has thus far well exceeded expectations when he was drafted in the fourth round, 98th overall in the 2019 NHL Draft.
These fifth anniversary sweaters were worn again in the 2021-2022 season on January 8th, 2022 against the Colorado Eagles. They had previously been worn during the 2020-2021 season to commemorate the franchise’s fifth season, but without fans in the stands for the most part.
The club decided to re-use them once again in order for the fans to see them in action.
The Meeps fell in 3-2 shootout loss to the Colorado Eagles. Maccelli had a secondary assist on Jan Jenik’s third period goal.
His jersey doesn’t show much wear beyond some loose threads in the numbers and a mark on the right side of the back of the sweater. It is signed by the winger on the back numbers.
