When the Nashville Predators took the ice to begin the 2016-2017 season, Mike Fisher was wearing this jersey on his back.
He scored a goal and added an assist in his first outing as captain of the Preds. It was a sign of things to come.
Fisher had arrived from Ottawa and cemented himself as a hard worker and fan favorite over the ensuing years. In 2016-2017, he led the Preds to the crest of the mountain before the team fell just short.
Mr. Fisher’s jersey has solid wear throughout, including repair clusters on both sleeves. The marks and wear around the sleeve numbers contributed to a large portion of the photomatches for Fish’s jersey.
Given the ramifications of the 2016-2017 season for the Nashville Predators alone, it’s safe to say that Fisher’s very short tenure as captain has thus far been the high-water point in franchise history. One season transported the Preds from quirky and overlooked to the top of discussions about everything from best fanbase to perennial Stanley Cup threats.
Statistically, the 2016-2017 season was Fisher’s third best in a Predators uniform.
He wore this jersey in 17 games from opening night on 10/14/16 to 12/29/16 and averaged nearly a point per game while wearing it (9 goals and 7 assists).
Mike Fisher’s time in Nashville will no doubt be remembered fondly. As for me, I’ll just have to look on my wall to see a bit of the history he helped create.
