Willie Knierim joined Arizona State having previously spent two seasons at Miami of Ohio.
Knierim left Miami to find his game in the USHL with the Dubuque Fighting Saints and eventually joined fellow Dubuque teammates James Sanchez and Jacob Semik in Tempe.
The huge forward had an immediate impact in the Sun Devils lineup, scoring 15 goals and 9 assists in 2019-2020.
He didn’t have as much success in 2020-2021. Nor did the Sun Devils thanks to spending the entire pandemic affected season on the road in the Big Ten.
Knierim scored 5 goals and 4 assists for 9 points in 18 games in 2020-2021.
Arizona State wore these gorgeous 1975 Sun Devils football inspired “Sunburst” jerseys in four games in the 2020-2021 season.
They were never worn in any other season, and sadly were also never worn at home.
Willie Knierim wore this sweater in all four games but did not tally a point in the contests.
His jersey shows very nice wear despite the small amount of games with unrepaired holes and burns.
The right sleeve has some burns, some white (or light blue) paint transfer, and further burns on the right sleeve #2 and #9 which are very visible. On the left sleeve we find some board burns, one large unrepaired hole, and red paint transfer in one of the yellow bands around the elbow.
There isn’t any real wear on the front, however, it is interesting to note that this jersey is a size 58 which is pretty uncommon among ASU gamers.
The back of Knierim’s jersey shows some salt or sweat wear on the back collar. There is nothing else of note on the back, wear wise.
