Chris Grando spent three seasons with the Arizona State Sun Devils after transferring to the desert from Boston College.
The speedy forward scored 17 goals sand 22 assists in his time in Tempe while playing in 92 games.
Grando saw the young program through it’s final years at Oceanside before transitioning to Mullett Arena for the inaugural season in the school’s new digs.
Arizona State introduced these Barry Bonds inspired jerseys prior to the inaugural homestand at Mullett Arena.
The jerseys emulated the design of the Sun Devils’ baseball uniforms down to the Devils script and coloring around the sleeves and waist. From the moment the announcement video dropped these jerseys were a hit with ASU fans and alumni, as well as the greater hockey community.
ASU is known for it’s incredible sweaters, but the Bonds jerseys might be the best they’ve produced outside of the 1975 Sunburst throwbacks.
The Sun Devils wore the baseball sweaters in five games in the 2022-2023 season. Those five games were split into two sets.
The first set was worn with a gorgeous inaugural season at Mullett Arena patch on October 14th and October 15th against Colgate. The second set was worn in the Desert Hockey Classic on January 6th against Michigan Tech and January 7th against Air Force. They were also worn on February 24th against Alaska Fairbanks.
Grando’s jersey is from the second set and was worn in all three games but he did not score any goals or have any assists.
His jersey has light but noticeable wear for it’s three games of use.
There are a few light stick marks and a board burn or two in both sleeves, along with two repairs and one unrepaired hole in the left sleeve specifically.
Grando’s sweater has multiple loose threads and thread oddities in the front in the DEVILS script and #13.
The back is clean.
These sweaters have set tags inside them declaring them as Arizona State Authentic Game Jerseys and have head equipment manager Corby Antropik’s name on the tag alongside customizer Exclusive Pro Sports.
