Former Nashville Predators captain Greg Johnson wore this White Set 1 game worn jersey while serving his second season as the captain of the young franchise.
As an original Predator and the second captain in franchise history, Johnson spent seven seasons in Nashville as the organization worked to build itself up from a “non-traditional hockey market” to a destination for free agents and perennial playoff contender.
Johnson himself would never be mistaken for a star.
His highest goal output was 18 (1995-1996 and 2001-2002) and his highest point total was 50 in 1998-1999. In general, the North Dakota alum hovered in the 30-35 point range and wasn’t much of a threat in the offensive end.
His value was found in other areas; defensively, and in his leadership.
Johnny’s White Set 1 gamer has a nice amount of stick and puck marks on the front of the jersey, including a large mark below the crest and an even larger one on the left side of the crest.
There is one repair in the yellow piping of the right sleeve.
The rest of the jersey has a smattering of puck/stick marks and paint transfer.
Greg Johnson spent his final three seasons in the NHL leading the Preds.
He was the captain leading the team made their first playoff appearance in 2003-2004. He led them there again in 2005-2006 after the 2004 season was cancelled due to the lockout.
Sadly, Johnny passed away unexpected at the young age of 48. Along with his on-ice achievements, the outpouring of condolences from Predators staff and teammates from those early years
