Kimmo Timonen’s captaincy as a Nashville Predator was short lived, but it wasn’t through any fault of the Finnish legend.
The defender produced an amazing statistical season in 2006-2007, scoring 13 goals and adding 42 assists to finish with 55 points. It was a high watermark for Timonen in his NHL career, and remarkable given he had just assumed the captaincy and had that weight on his shoulders.
Kimmo was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers (along with Scott Hartnell) after the season in one of the more lopsided trades in Nashville history. That whole offseason was arguably the most trying time to be a Predator fan.
Nashville wore their Navy Set 3 jerseys from February 17th, 2007 to March 31, 2007, as well as in their three home playoff games versus the San Jose Sharks. The jerseys were worn in a total of 10 different games.
This jersey has light to moderate wear which is pretty consistent with Timonen gamers from his time in Nashville.
The left sleeve has a few light/puck stick marks and board burns, and the right sleeve is more or less the same with the addition of a pretty solid burn/mark right in the elbow of the white material.
The back of the jersey has several marks in the various sections of silver fabric. Both silver edges of the hem have stick/puck marks and board/paint transfer. The right shoulder also has a significant mark in the silver fabric just above the “N” on the nameplate.
As I’ve said before, jerseys from Timonen’s sole season as captain are extremely hard to track down.
As it stands, myself and members of the hobby have located four of the eight jerseys he wore in regular season or postseason games that season. The four are this Navy Set 3 gamer and the Third Set 1 gamer that I also own.
There is also a Navy Set 1 which I used to own (and is now in Finland with a private collector), and a White Set 3 which is with a fellow Predators collector.
I’d love to track down a white set one to complete the trifecta. If you know where one is — even if it won’t move — let me know!
