Jacob Wilson has been a punishing presence on the Arizona State blueline for five seasons now.
The Missouri native has been “considered one of ASU’s enforcers the past few years” as he’s delivered solid hits on the back end and played nearly every game since joining the school’s hockey program ahead of the 2017-2018 season.
He sits as the school’s all-time leader in games played at 150 games after surpassing former captain Brinson Pasichnuk’s record of 136.
The alternate jerseys were unveiled by the school in December 2019 and were a hit with the fans. Arizona State wore their gray “desert storm” sweaters in 11 games in the 2020-2021 season and 6 games in the prior 2019-2020 season.
Jacob Wilson wore the jersey in all 4 of the 6 games in 2019-2020 and also wore this gray set game worn sweater in 11 of the 22 games the school played last season. He tallied 1 assist in the sweater in the 19-20 season and another 3 assists in this jersey in 20-21. It has some great wear, with unrepaired holes and marks and board burns on the right sleeve.
The left sleeve has the largest section of unrepaired holes I've ever found in a game worn jersey in the wrist area. It looks to have started out as a single burn hole or two and just spread as it went unrepaired. Needless to say, it was pretty easy to match. The sleeve numbers on the left side also feature several large burns above and below them.
The front of Wilson's gamer has two large pulls on the right side of the pitchfork crest. There are also two faint marks on the top and bottom of the captain's "C".
The back of the jersey is pretty pristine with the exception of the nameplate area. The nameplate was removed, as was typical with NCAA gamers and ASU gamers in particular during the pre-NIL timeframe. The school made the removed nameplates available at a later date, however, and I was able to have it re-attached to the jersey.
The "desert storm" jerseys also have perforated numbers which, as usual, look great in person.
ASU played on the road for the entirety of the 2020-2021 season in the Big Ten.
It was a trial by fire that saw the program post it's first losing season since 2017-2018.
Wilson had 1 goal and 7 assists in 22 games, with two separate two point nights against ranked teams in Wisconsin and Notre Dame.
