Deryk Engelland spent 11 years patrolling the blueline in the NHL.
He played on some very good teams in that time, but the thing he’ll always be best known for was his leadership for the Vegas Golden Knights in the 2017-2018 season.
His heartfelt speech given on October 10th in response to the 58 people killed at the Route 91 Harvest Festival reverberated throughout Las Vegas and the National Hockey League.
The speech came ahead of the club’s first ever home game at T-Mobile Arena.
From there, Engelland emerged as the leader of the new franchise and followed it up by winning the NHL’s Mark Messier Leadership Award at the end of the season.
He was impactful on the ice as well with 5 goals and 18 assists for a career high 23 points.
The Golden Knights wore their white set 2 jerseys in 16 games from December 27th, 2017 to February 26th, 2018. Engelland wore this sweater in all 16 of those games, posting 2 assists.
His jersey has pretty solid wear throughout beginning with a ton of stick marks near the wrist area and a large repair in the elbow on the left sleeve. The right sleeve has more stick marks, including a very dark mark in the gold band around the elbow area.
The front of the sweater features both the 2017-2018 Inaugural Season patch, as well as the alternate captain’s “A”. Despite serving as the de facto captain, no player wore the “C” for Vegas until 2020-2021. There is also a small stick or puck mark next to the “A”.
The back of the jersey has a nice stick mark running from the edge of the back number towards the right sleeve. It is fairly clean otherwise, but looks particularly great as the Golden Knights wore perforated numbers which really enhance the look of the sweater.
This game worn jersey is photomatched to 5 different games via the wear on the right sleeve (both the repair and stick marks).
Those games are 1/16 vs Nashville, 1/18 vs Tampa Bay, 2/4 vs Washington, 2/6 vs Pittsburgh, and 2/8 vs San Jose.
