Matthew Kopperud lit up the record books as a member of the Arizona State Sun Devils.
The Denver native had two 20+ goal seasons in maroon and gold and finished his career as the second highest scoring player in school history.
Kopperud ended his time in Tempe second in goals scored (64), second in points (108), first in game-winning goals (11), first in power player goals (41), and tied with Johnny Walker for the most goals in a single-season with 23.
Arizona State introduced these military jerseys inspired by Pat Tillman in November of 2021.
They wore them in two wins later that month against Bemidji State (11/24 and 11/26) and in another two victories in the 2022-2023 against Alaska Anchorage (11/11 and 11/12). They were worn again in 2023-2024 against Stonehill (11/3 and 11/4).
The jerseys feature a sublimated crest and an American flag patch on the left shoulder. The numbers are sublimated and the nameplate is sewn.
These sweaters also include a tribute to Sun Devils alumni Pat Tillman with a PT42 patch on the back above the nameplate.
Matthew Kopperud wore this jersey in all three seasons and all six games the set was worn in.
Kopperud scored 3 goals and 6 assists for 9 points in those six games.
His PT42 jersey has light wear with the most notable bit being on the right sleeve where there are two repairs.
There are some light marks but the most notable one is a stick or puck mark near the collar on the front.
These Pat Tillman military jerseys have unique set tags inside the back hem.
They are sublimated and feature a quote from Tillman:
"Somewhere inside, we hear a voice. It leads us in the direction of who we want to become. But it is up to us whether or not to follow." — Pat Tillman
The set tags also feature the PT42 logo honoring Tillman and state “Arizona State Authentic Game Jersey” and have former equipment manager Jon Laughner’s name. The jerseys were customized by EPS.
