Arguably the rarest jersey in my collection, this navy blue alternate set game worn jersey was used by Shea Weber throughout the 2010-2011 season. It was his first season as captain of the Preds.
Why is the jersey so rare?
The Nashville Predators only wore their navy blue alternates in the 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 seasons. Two seasons for what is easily the most popular jersey the franchise has ever took the ice in.
I chased this jersey and it’s counterpart, a Jason Arnott 2009-2010 alternate game worn, for a good while as the final piece of my captain’s collection. Arnott wore three navy alternates as captain in 2009-2010, and Shea Weber wore just one in 2010-2011 — the one in my collection.
There is no other set or one-off.
Nashville wore their alternate set in thirteen games from 10/16/10 to 3/26/11. Weber played in all thirteen, scoring 8 goals and adding 1 assist in the jersey.
Weber’s jersey has moderate wear. There is a large board burn on the left sleeve and a nice mark on the right sleeve. Other burns and marks are visible, and there are also several small marks in the hem.
Aesthetically, this jersey is my favorite among the captain’s jerseys I own.
The navy alternate is my favorite style the team has worn on the ice, and it’s a real shame the push for gold branding has all but killed any chance of seeing these return without serious modifications. It remains a bummer that these were retired and the white alternate prototype never hit the ice.
Shea Weber’s jersey is part of the Nashville Predators MeiGray program and has MeiGray tagging and LOA.
