Shane Doan wore this black alternate jersey while captaining the Phoenix Coyotes during the team’s momentous 2011-2012 season.
The captain wore this jersey in 10 games during that season, scoring 5 goals and tallying no assists while wearing it.
This jersey features the captain’s “C” and has moderate, but very visible wear.
Doan's signature right shoulder wear is very visible on this jersey, with a couple of board burns that have turned into unrepaired holes on the back of that shoulder. The left sleeve also has a decent sized unrepaired hole. There are loose threads throughout.
The holes are photomatched to several games, including the one in the picture above where Doan scored a second period goal in a 3-2 loss to the St. Louis Blues.
Captain Coyote led the Yotes to a Western Conference final tilt with the eventual champion Los Angeles Kings that season.
These are among my favorite style of jerseys the team has ever worn, and I would love to see this design come back as a Reverse Retro in white or red in the future.
